The Course
The MSc Systemic Family Therapy is an accredited Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice course and successful completion of the course makes graduates eligible for registration. This is a qualifying clinical training in family therapy and systemic practice. The course is an intensive training involving live supervision. You are encouraged to make links between the course content and your clinical practice elsewhere. The teaching days involve an in depth exploration of the relationship between theory and practice, personal and professional development groups, encourage critical thinking about therapeutic practice, ethics and research methods. Particular attention is paid to the experience of different cultures, class, gender, sexuality, ability and other areas of diverse lived experience which are affected by practices of power.
Who is this course for?
Applicants must have an appropriate professional qualification, be working in an appropriate setting and have passed an Intermediate Course or equivalent.
What is the course commitment?
This is a two year part-time course with teaching days held over approximately thirty six days during the two academic years. These days address skills development and theory. In addition, participants attend a supervision clinic. Private study (a minimum ratio of 3:1 to teaching days).
Where is the course held?
The teaching days take place in the Institute of Psychology in Malaga, Spain. 3 weeks per year. A small part of the course can be attended via Skype. In future years we may be willing to consider other locations if suitable arrangements can be made.
