Education program for nurses/counsellors specialized in memory related illnesses, 1 year

The course is suitable for social and health care workers who in their daily work meet patients with memory illnesses and other memory problems and their family members. The course provides skills and qualifications for working as a specialist nurse/counselor in demanding counseling tasks in basic and specialized health care and in the private sector health care.
Studies
The course consists of contact teaching and distance learning, which enables the participants to combine study and employment. Contact teaching takes two weeks, one week in the spring semester and one week in the fall semester (14 days altogether). The goal is to provide new skills for working in elderly care and with patients with dementia and other memory related illnesses. After graduation participants will have comprehensive knowledge about various memory related illnesses, their effect mechanisms and treatments, and diagnostic evaluation tools and methods. Nurses specialized in memory related illnesses will be able to give professional support to the demented patient and his/her family.

Costs
